As well as photography Heather Watson has trained dogs professionally for 19 years; as a Guide Dog trainer she worked with problem dogs and educated members of staff in theoretical and practical aspects of dog training for the Association. For the past 10 years she has specialised in pet dogs, helping owners to achieve a socially acceptable and well habituated dog.

She explains the importance of understanding how your dog thinks and ensuring you're subtly dominant in the relationship with him, without force or cruelty. Using this psychological tool, and by basing your training on positive associations rather than punishment and negative emotions, you end up with an obedient and well adjusted dog.
